Impacts of Russia – Ukraina Armed Conflict on Africa

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Quan

Abstract:

Africa is located far from the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict, but is suffering the consequences of this conflict. Most African countries have "failed to choose sides" to avoid risks, but are suffering from escalating food prices, fuel prices, inflation, economic recession while still grappling with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, Africa faces the opportunity to assert its independent position in the new world order, as well as expand food farming, meet consumer demand, and avoid disasters during a time of food prices rising; improve oil and gas extraction and production capacity to fill gaps arising from supply chain disruptions; eradication of hunger, poverty and inequality.
