Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai, MA (IAMES)

Abstract:

Circular agricultural development is a new development trend of global agriculture, including Kenya, a country with the fastest growing economy in sub-Saharan Africa (Kenya Ministry of Industry and Trade, 2021). Being an agricultural country, Kenya's agricultural sector not only provides the main food for people across the country, but also makes an important contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP). However, in the face of the negative effects of climate change and the unsuitability of traditional agriculture in a linear direction, Kenyan agriculture is making positive changes in the direction of a circular and step by step to improve production efficiency, improve the quality of agricultural products and minimize negative impacts on the environment. Recently, the Government of Kenya has implemented many measures to both support and promote farmers and businesses operating in the agricultural sector of Kenya to develop agriculture to the direction of circularity, towards sustainable agricultural development. The following article will analyze in more detail the measures that the Government of Kenya has taken.
