IAMES kicked off in the year 2004 collaborated with
Vietnam Halal Center (VHC) beginning in 2020 with the MOU on the setting up of
the Halal Center of Excellence (COE) based in 176 Thai Ha Street in Hanoi.
The partnership has developed over the last two years
and has benefited in numerous programs, training and workshops both for public
and businesses throughout the northern part of the country. And the most
visible of the programs was the jointly organised the Muslim Friendly
half-a-day workshop at the Hue University in June 2022. For the first time I
have seen a few of the IAMES researchers did an encouraging job by presenting
papers of the Muslim Friendly/Halal subject. I believe the vision and mission
captured by the leadership in IAMES headed by the well-known Director General
Dr.
Le
Phuoc Minh has paved the way for more talent from the Institute to do
comprehensive research and soon publish the findings on the subject with the
general public in Vietnam. Additionally, the government of Vietnam through a
decree which was passed in February 2023 has given an official mandate for the
country to seriously consider adopting halal economy in the country’s GDP.
IAMES being in the forefront of the government’s think
tank research agency shall be poised to take a more aggressive role in not only
promoting the Halal economy, but also help the nation to provide statistics,
research and development, collaborations and connections with foreign halal
agencies in building the right foundation for Vietnam to become the new kids in
the block for halal commercialisation.
