The Middle East and South East Asia are the extremely significant geographical and geostrategic positions in the world. Two regions not only have the abudant and huge oil reserves, particularly the Middle East – the world hub of energy, but also are the “hot points” where appear disputes, conflicts and gathering forces of the major powers such as the United States, China and Russia... Vietnam locates in the South East Asia, Iran locates in the Middle East, in which two nations have the very important roles. Vietnam has the great contributions in building and developing the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) as well as expanding and promoting the coooperation relations between ASEAN and other partners. Diversification, multilateralization, and proactive and active international integration are the foreign policy of Vietnam. While recently, Iran has made the proactive progress in the regional integration like re-establishing the diplomatic relation with Saudi Arabia, partly supporting Syria to re-integrate into the Arab League (AL)… These narratives are affirmed the important roles of Iran in setting up the new trend of cooperation development of the Middle East in contribution to making the regional face of politics and security more and more stable.

However, the cooperative relations between Vietnam and Iran haven’t not yet commensurated with their potentials. The bilateral trade turnover is still modest, about 124.5 million USD in 2021. Because of the embargo, the cooperative relations between Vietnam and Iran remain some difficulties like lack of information about their markets, lack of legal procedures, lack of pioneering enterprises… Therefore, to boost up the cooperative relations between Vietnam and Iran in the coming time, especially to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations among two nations (4/8/1973-4/8/2023), it should to held up more and more exchanges, webinars and meetings in person to improve the mutual understanding as same as this webinar co-organized between IAMES and IPIS. These will be the good chances for the diplomats and researchers to share information about their domestic situations, analyze and access the impacts of regional and international contexts on every nation, and their cooperative relations. IAMES and IPIS are willing to strengthen the collaborations of science, education and training, and cultural exchange as the bridge of Vietnam and Iran relationship. In addition, it should promote the bilateral cooperations of tourism, smart agriculture, green and renewable energies, NANO technology which are the strong advantages of Iran for the sustainable development and prosperity of both Vietnam and Iran in particular, and the world in general.
