President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences receives Mr. Humam Hamoudi, Vice Chairman of National Parliament of the Republic of Iraq and the Iraqi National Parliament delegation

In the
afternoon on March 31st 2015, at the headquarters of Vietnam Academy of Social
Sciences (VASS), President of VASS - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang received Mr.
Humam Hamoudi, Vice Chairman of National Parliament of the Republic of Iraq
and the Iraqi National Parliament delegation.
Attending the
meeting included, in the VASS side, Vice President of VASS - Prof. Dr. Nguyen
Quang Thuan, representative leaders from the President Assistant Units, leaders
of Institute of African and Middle East Studies, Institute for India and
Southwest Asian Studies.
At the
meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang introduced the Iraqi National Parliament
delegation about functions, tasks of VASS, research directions and interests of
VASS including the political, security, culture, people, environment, breakthrough
of institution for reform and development, ect. The President of VASS valued
spirit of independence and self-strengthening of Iraqi people even if in the
most difficult period. The President of VASS affirmed that VASS readily
cooperates with Iraqi scientific institutions in research areas and
developmental policy consultancy.
In response to
the President of VASS, Mr. Humam Hamoudi expressed his happiness to visit and
work at VASS. Mr. Humam Hamoudi introduced briefly Iraq’s
real status, the Middle East’s situation, transfer toward priority of
developing agriculture and industry, business potential and investment in Iraq. He
expressed a demand of that Vietnam
soon opens Vietnam Embassy to Iraq
in order to enhance opportunities of commercial and investment exchanges for
enterprises of the two countries. The two sides agreed that in the next time
there will establish to exchange documents, information, scholars, and
coordinate to organize scientific conferences for contribution to enhancement
of understanding and developing friendly and cooperative relationship between
Vietnam and Iraq./.
