Ceremony of Signing Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute for Africa and Middle East Studies and the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa to Vietnam.
On
March 2nd 2023 in the head quarter of IAMES, 176 Thai Ha, Dong Da,
Ha Noi, the Institute for Africa and Middle East Studies (IAMES) and the
Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Vietnam officially sign the
Memorandum of Cooperation in celebrating 30 years of anniversary of diplomatic
relation between Vietnam and South Africa. This event marks the beginning of
journey of the close cooperation between IAMES and the Embassy.

There are a lot
of participants who are governmental officials, diplomats, researchers,
businessmen and press to attend. In which includes H.E. Vuyiswa Tulelo,
Ambassador of South Africa to Vietnam; Mr. Marius Conradie, Political
Consellor; Mr. Nkhetheleni Hector Mphohoni, First Secretary; Prof. Dr. Le Phuoc Minh,
Director General of IAMES; Dr. Kieu Thanh Nga, Deputy Director of IAMES;
Prof.Dr. Do Duc Dinh, Former Director General of IAMES; H.E. Nguyen Quang Khai,
Former Ambassador of Vietnam to UAE, Iraq; H.E. Pham Sy Tam, Former Ambassador

In
the speeches, both Ambassador Tulelo and Prof.Dr. Le Phuoc Minh expect that the
Embassy and IAMES will two main organisers in coordination with the relevant
authorities such as: the Embassy of Vietnam in South Africa; Central Committee
of External Relations; Department of Middle East-Africa of Ministry of Foreign
Affairs; Youth Studies Institute; Union of Vietnamese Women; Vietnam Union of Friendship
Organizations… together to carry out the cooperative activities on the occasion
of 30 year of anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Africa and
Vietnam. The main objects are women and young generation who are the future of
nations and the important bridge to link South Africa with Vietnam. Some
cooperative activities are as follow:
1. 27 April: Freedom
Day: Webinar “Struggle and Aspiration
for Freedom: Sharing Experience between South Africa and Vietnam” ;
2. 25 May: Africa
Day: International Seminar “Cultural
Diversity for Integration and Development”;
3. 16 June: Youth Day:
Joint Virtual Seminar in collaboration with HCM Communist Youth Union including
the Youth Studies Institute (YSI), and Vietnam Association of Young Scientists and
Engineers (VAYSE);
4. 18 July: Mandela
Day: Essay Competition on Nelson Mandela and Correlation with Uncle Ho and
Blood Donation Drive in conjunction with the Melia Hotel;
5. 9 August: National
Women Day: Photographic Exhibition “the journey of Women in Diplomacy” and 17
August: SADC Day
6. 24 September:
Heritage Day: the South African musical
performance;
7. 25 October:
International Seminar of IAMES “Tripartite Cooperation: Mechanism for Promoting
Ties between Vietnam and the Middle Eastern – African Countries”.



Thank
to the active accompanies of the relevant authorities, and the supports of all
guests who attend at the today event, we hope that these cooperative activities
will be held up practically and efficiently in contribution to improving the
mutual understanding between South African people to Vietnamese people in order
to promote the bilateral cooperation relation.
